These swans were in the Northwest corner of the East lagoon at the Wastewater this afternoon, November 6. The two on the left I'm sure are Tundra Swans, I'm not positive about the two on the right. Any ideas?
Sibley shows that head-on the bill of a Trumpeter meets the face in a V- or U-shape whereas the bill of a Tundra meets the face in a more horizontal line. All of these birds display that more curvy pattern, so I think they're all Tundras. Tundras don't always show the yellow, although I think I see some yellow on all these birds. Trumpeters show no yellow at all. What does anyone else think?
