I have seen Black Terns hunting the Causeway Pond several times in the past week.
I counted 9 Upland Sandpipers in various areas of the Wastewater both north and south of Apple during a shorebird survey June 15. They were actively defending territory and would appear doing hover alarm displays in reponse to my slowing the car after I heard them calling in fields. The only other shorebirds seen were Killdeer and Spotted Sandpipers.
A male Orchard Oriole was in the high grass near the Maintanence Building south of Apple and 2 Sandhill Cranes in a field. Dicksissels and Grasshopper Sparrows were heard and seen both north and south of Apple; Bobolinks only north, for me at least.
