Surprise at the Shop

Made a quick trip through the Wastewater this morning and got a picture of a young Red Tailed Hawk and was entertained by a dozen or so Cedar Waxwing at the Swanson-White Road intersection. Got out to my ice cream shop and had 7 Great Egret and a Great Blue Heron in my pond gorging themselves on frogs and little fish.

Don, thanks for the report and photos. I'm glad you can still bird occasionally even during the ice cream season. Your Cedar Waxwing shot and Mike Boston's posted on July 13 are two of the nicest action photos of that species that I've ever seen. They could be in magazines!

Thanks Ric, I really liked Mike's shot, too. Going by the pictures posted here there seem to be large numbers of them around the area this year.
