Today I took a walk on the Grand Haven north pier; not much going on: Greater Scaup, Red-breasted Mergansers, Mallards and a few Ring-billed Gulls. Just before I left, I scoped the shoreline on the south side. The first thing I saw were 4 adult Great Black-backed Gulls. So I made the 6.5 mile drive to go 300 yards south. When I got there, I could only find 3 adult Great Black-backed Gulls. I am pretty sure there were at least 6 juvenile Great Black-backed Gulls on the beach. Then I found two Glaucous Gulls. Lets hope they stick around for Sunday. It would be nice to have these on the list Jan 1.
