Sandpipers Again on Sunday

.
Very windy conditions today at Pere Marquette Park but two Purple Sandpipers were viewable on the partly icy rocks along the north (protected) side of the south breakwall 50-100 yards from shore shortly after 1:00 this afternoon.  Conditions did not allow walking further than the first safety light tower beyond the shoreline without getting sprayed.  Thank you, Joseph Lautenbach (post below) for my 201st species for 2011.
.
FYI:  I saw one the minute I arrived but had to wait 15 minutes before it appeared again (with its friend) despite their being in a relatively small, restricted area the whole time.  As always, they can be there but not be within line of sight because of the rocks.  Best viewing angle this afternoon was from the shore.
