Ibis Today in Muskegon County

Dan Lockard reports one of the Plegadis genus of Ibis today northeast of Muskegon.  Sherri Lockard took this photo.

Looks like a White-faced Ibis but we've sent photos and information to Caleb Putnam and if he replies with a definite species I.D., we'll post it here.

May 4 Email:  "Thanks for sharing these! This is either a White-faced Ibis or possibly a White-faced X Glossy Ibis hybrid or backcross. It is not a Glossy Ibis. These photos may not be enough to clinch the ID beyond this level, however, as that requires a good look at the color of the facial skin and legs and eye color. Did you happen to see any of these clearly in the field?" - Caleb

May 5 Email:  "I could not get a close look at the ibis as it was way too far away and overcast.  Thanks for your help." - Dan
