Peregrines at Cobb Plant Earlier This Week

Bruce Delamarter took these pictures of the adult Peregrine Falcons at the Cobb Plant.  March 19: One of the birds flying above the power plant.  March 15: One of the birds "testing its wings"; Bruce said the bird stayed in this position, perched with wings out, for about thirty seconds.

Jeff Johnson wondered why the flying peregrine appeared so dark overall. That's because this photo was produced by scanning an already very contrasty small photograph into a file viewable on computers. The bird itself is not nearly this dark! - Ric
