More than 20 people followed Charlie DeWitt around the Wastewater properties this cold sunny morning recording 42 species of birds if one includes the two Short-eared Owls seen at first light by Dayle Vanderwier on the fields south of Apple Avenue.
Other species of note included an American Woodcock near the headquarters building, Canvasback, Ruddy Duck and two Tree Swallows at the lagoons, a Sandhill Crane, a Rough-legged Hawk, a Coyote and male Brown-headed Cowbirds along White Road, and a pair of Redheads, three Turkey Vultures, 30 Tundra Swans and seven Wood Ducks south of Laketon on or near the Clay Ponds.
