Superb pics, Don! I scanned the goose flock in a middle grassy cell at about 4:30 today and only picked up Gadwall of note in with the Canadas--no Snows and no Cacklings! I found 3 white thingys (as well as 1 very heavily marked immature at Pere Marquette). Also had a very cooperative LTDU there as well--may put it on my new YouTube birding channel soon... A glorious Harrier was hunting the ditches south of Swanson, I just about got a video :-(
I saw the wzzm story as well and left a comment blasting them for getting within 40 feet and making it fly , as if that's OK. Nothing quite like them to educate the public.
Rick, Perry Mason isn't REALLY dead -- Don Kicked him too! He ended up in a wheelchair and changed his name to Ironside. I talked with him (Ironside) today, and he only had one comment -- if the Tripod fits - you must acquit? So, the lesson to be learned here, is give Don a "wide berth" and if the starts walking toward you like the "keep on truckin" guy, LOOK OUT! ;) Mike V.
With access again to a computer, I've formatted Don's post on the main page and moved his Jan. 13 evening comment to here. I'm still not on my computer, but when I get there I'll try some suggestions Don and others have given me regarding solving the commenting problem even if you are using Internet Explorer. Don needed to comment on the main page because he was getting "ripped" by several of his friends in the comments section, but as webmaster I try to look at the main page as a new visitor would look at it, and in that case the comments would make little sense and might even indicate the animosity typical of many blogs. That is not the impression nor the truth about this site, so I'd prefer no further comments on the main page even if you have authority to post there. My last email from Don indicates that you may be able to post here even before I try some fixes by simply clicking the title of the blog post instead of clicking "Comments". Those still using IE might give that a try. Thanks!

Here's Don's previous message:
For Mike Vanderstelt's eyes only... Mike, I did some investigating into the tripod kicking incident. The "victim" of the "kick and run" assured me that she did get an apology, though kept refering to me as Bruce.(???) Some facts I uncovered... The suspect was alledgedly trying to "get the better shot." Well, you reported the incident right after an amazing shot was posted by the same person who claims to be an eye witness.hmmm! (come to think of it, your shots are excellent, too) Then mysteriously this blog begins having issues with the posting of comments. I think I'm being framed. I've retained Perry Mason just in case.....For now lets just keep this between us...Don

I think Perry Mason is dead!
Any new major traffic out there today Don? I saw WZZM news last night had a news crew out there chasing one of the birds around yesterday.

P.S. Bang! - Case closed -- let's get back to Birding.
